Senior Environment Artist


Ultimate Studio is a Melbourne based games studio on a mission to build remarkable long lasting games. To do this we want to bring passionate and talented people together, and give them the resources, time and space to focus on building games. We are currently looking for driven developers to join our experienced teams to help shape and build two high fidelity action PC games using Unreal Engine. Ultimate Studio is also a remote first workplace built on trust that caters for flexible working hours.


As a Senior Environment Artist, you will take a pivotal role in crafting visually stunning environments for our upcoming PC title. Collaborating closely with the Art Director and the game team, you will drive the development of environment art, ensuring alignment with the overall visual vision. This full-time position demands an in-depth understanding of advanced environment art techniques, knowledge of cutting-edge tools and technologies, and the capability to achieve both high fidelity and optimal performance. Your self-driven and collaborative mindset is crucial for leading the artistic vision and working harmoniously with creative and technical stakeholders to deliver immersive environments that captivate players.


  • Collaborate with the art director and other team members to understand and implement the artistic vision of the game.
  • Create visually appealing 2D and 3D art assets for characters, environments, and objects.
  • Ensure that art assets align with the technical and aesthetic requirements.
  • Develop textures, materials, and shaders for in-game assets.
  • Support the development of concept art and visual design elements for games.
  • Prepare and organize art assets for integration into the game engine.
  • Learn and apply industry-standard tools and software for asset creation and editing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, programmers, and other artists.
  • Participate in art reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve art assets.
  • Learn and apply best practices for optimizing art assets for performance.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques for game art.


  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional 3D art skills and a keen sense of aesthetics.
  • Previous experience in a video game artist role.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and sculpting tools (e.g., Maya, Blender, ZBrush).
  • Understanding of memory and performance limitations in relation to 3D art.
  • Effective time and workload management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and attention to detail for delivering top-notch results.
