Audio Lead


Ultimate Studio is a Melbourne based games studio on a mission to build remarkable long lasting games. To do this we want to bring passionate and talented people together, and give them the resources, time and space to focus on building games. We are currently looking for driven developers to join our experienced teams to help shape and build two high fidelity action PC games using Unreal Engine. Ultimate Studio is also a remote first workplace built on trust that caters for flexible working hours.


As the Audio Lead, you will be responsible for all aspects of audio production and implementation for our games. You will collaborate closely with the development teams to determine the audio vision and ensure that the audio assets and systems enhance the gameplay experience. This full-time role requires strong technical expertise in audio production, creative audio design, and a deep understanding of game audio pipelines to deliver remarkable and immersive audio that captivates players.


  • Define the audio vision and strategy for the games in collaboration with the development teams.
  • Design and implement audio systems, including sound effects, music, voiceovers, and ambient audio.
  • Collaborate with game designers, artists, and programmers to integrate audio seamlessly into the gameplay experience.
  • Establish technical requirements and standards for audio assets and ensure they conform to specifications.
  • Oversee the audio production pipeline, including asset creation, editing, mixing, and mastering.
  • Implement audio features and functionality within the game engine (Unreal Engine).
  • Conduct audio testing and debugging to ensure high-quality and bug-free audio experiences.
  • Optimize audio performance and memory usage while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Document audio processes, pipelines, and technical specifications for the team.
  • Collaborate with QA to ensure audio assets are thoroughly tested and meet quality standards before release.


  • Demonstrable expertise in game audio production, including sound design, music composition, and voiceover implementation.
  • Strong understanding of current and next-gen audio pipelines and techniques.
  • Proficiency in audio middleware and tools (e.g., Wwise, FMOD, Unity Audio).
  • Experience working with game engines, preferably Unreal Engine.
  • Technical proficiency in audio implementation and scripting languages.
  • Background in audio software and tools (e.g., Pro Tools, Reaper, Ableton Live).
  • Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including artists, programmers, and designers.
  • Effective time and workload management to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills related to audio issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey audio concepts and requirements.
