ABOUT ULTIMATE STUDIO

Ultimate Studio is a Melbourne based games studio on a mission to build remarkable long lasting games. To do this we want to bring passionate and talented people together, and give them the resources, time and space to focus on building games. We are currently looking for driven developers to join our experienced teams to help shape and build two high fidelity action PC games using Unreal Engine. Ultimate Studio is also a remote first workplace built on trust that caters for flexible working hours. 

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION

As the VFX Lead you will be given the chance to own VFX for one of our upcoming PC titles. You will work closely with the Art Director and game team to concept and create visual effects for a new, highly dynamic and effects heavy co-op third person shooter. This full time role will require a deep understanding of the practical applications of a wide range of VFX techniques and the latest tools to achieve high fidelity performant results. You will also need a self driven and collaborative mindset to champion VFXs while working with both creative and technical stakeholders to deliver remarkable effects that amaze players.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting the Art Director in creating the overall VFX vision
  • Producing composites to showcase ideas and concepts
  • Creating and modifying assets to assist the process of rapid prototypes of experimental features
  • Designing and creating high quality effects to support the game design and communicate game state and events
  • Lighting and rendering effect elements
  • Working with the development team to correctly place and trigger effects
  • Ensuring effects hits all memory and frame rate guides
  • Working with production to define scope and timelines for project milestones
  • Developing and refining best practices and workflows to achieve production goals

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Portfolio demonstrating skills
  • Unreal Engine experience
  • Understanding of memory and performance limitations
  • Effective time and workload management
